Walliser Bote als erste Tageszeitung komplett auf Aurora produziert

Umstellung erfolgt innert wenigen Monaten

Im letzten Herbst entschied sich die Mengis Druck und Verlag AG ihr veraltetes Redaktionssystem mit dem marktführenden Produkt Aurora Enterprise von WoodWing zu ersetzen.  Der Grund:  WoodWing hat mit Aurora das modernste und zukunftsgerichtetste Konzept für die Zeitungsproduktion im Angebot. Im März wurde konkret mit der Umstellung begonnen und bereits jetzt, Mitte Juni, ist diese abgeschlossen.

Komplett neuer Workflow. Konsequent Content First.

Mit Aurora besteht nun bei der Mengis Gruppe die Möglichkeit nachhaltig nach dem Prinzip «Story First» zu produzieren. Im Mittelpunkt des Workflows steht die medienneutrale Contenterfassung. Nur so kann mit wenigen Klicks ein und dieselbe Geschichte fürs Web beispielsweise mit einem Video oder einer Bildergalerie angereichert und ausgegeben oder für Print angepasst und automatisiert ins InDesign übernommen werden.

Daneben kommt Elvis DAM als unternehmensübergreifendes Asset-Management- und Archiv-System zum Einsatz.

Redaktoren arbeiten wann und wo sie wollen

Aurora ist browserbasiert und somit geräteunabhängig. Sprich, Redaktoren brauchen keine zusätzlichen Applikationen, um ihre Artikel zu erfassen. WLAN reicht – log-in und los gehts. Inhalte können vom Sofa aus und während eines WM-Spiels entstehen.

The first daily newspaper produced entirely with Enterprise Aurora: Walliser Bote

On Monday June 18, the readers of the Swiss daily newspaper «Walliser Bote» held in their hands the first issue produced entirely using Enterprise Aurora.

After several magazines already being produced with Aurora, the first daily newspaper has now been created. On Thursday June 21, the Mengis Group’s weekly newspaper, the «Rhone Zeitung», also followed suit by being produced using the state of the art editorial system.

Changeover achieved within a few months

Last fall, Mengis Druck und Verlag AG (Mengis printing and publishing AG) decided to replace its outdated editorial system with WoodWing’s market-leading Enterprise Aurora product. The reason: With Aurora, WoodWing offers the most up-to-date and forward-thinking concept for newspaper production. The conversion was started in March and was already finished by mid-June.

Completely new workflow. Consistently Content First.

With Aurora, the Mengis Group now has the opportunity to produce content efficiently, using the «Story First» approach. At the heart of the workflow is the media-neutral content creation. With only just a few clicks, one and the same story can be enriched for the web (for example with a video or a picture gallery) and/or adapted for print with an automatic conversion to InDesign.

In addition, Elvis DAM is used as a cross-company asset management and archive system.

Editors work whenever and wherever they want

Aurora is browser-based and thus device-independent. That said, editors do not need additional applications to write their articles. WLAN is enough – log-in and off you go! Content can be created from anywhere, including the sofa during the World Cup.
